A new, great adventure! An expedition for true travellers! A journey of three weeks from Mediterranean to the very heart of West Africa, from the sea to the desert, from Morocco to Mali through Mauritania, to discover Aoudaghost, a ghost town of the V century B. C.

The expedition begins with the ancient towns of Fez and Marrakesh, the High Atlas mountains and the Berber villages, the old Spanish settlements and south Morocco unspoiled villages, till we reach the wild desert beaches that divide Morocco from Mauritania .

Banc d'Arguin is the largest ornithological reserve on earth; we will navigate on local wooden seal boats in the Ocean, between banks of sand and thousands of birds.

We will leave the Atlantic cost driving trough big dunes of soft sdand, out of any track, and we will admire the spectacular Tan Amira monolith, the largest in Africa .

Chinguetti was the seventh sacred city of Islam and one of the main religious and cultural places of the nomadic world throughout all Western Sahara. Today the sand covers many of the old houses. In the “stone town” we will discover manuscript collections.

Through Adrar, a region of large dunes mountains and remote villages, we will reach Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, a modern town for and a confortable stop. Then , In Kiffa, we will see the women producing the traditional glass beads.

Out of any track, we will discover the unknown archaeological site of Aoudaghost, the oldest town known in Africa, founded in the 5th century B. C. Only a small part of this site has been excavated by French archaeologists in the Sixties. It is a spectacular ghost town. In the same region some fortified caves hide adobe granaries.

Crossing the border of Mali will bring us from the desert to the savannah: the adobe villages in the shade of large baobab and the drumming will announce Black Africa, after an unforgettable experience.
