One week dedicated to Ghana, one of the most interesting countries in West Africa, to participate to the great Adae, the celebration of ten years of kingdom of Otumfour Osei Tutu II, king of the Ashanti sincel 1999 and to one of the most beautiful initiation ceremony in Africa, in the Krobo region.

Kumasi is the capital of Ashanti. During the Adae celebration all the inhabitants and chiefs welcome Otumfour Osei Tutu II Asantehene and the 10 years of his kingdom. The celebration is going on in a day full of sounds, colours, dances, rhytms, which is an extraordinary occasion to see the real African soul.

The Krobo region is famous around the world for its beads, some of which are often to be seen in the best African Art Galleries. It is here in Krobo where they are produced – and here where they are used for religious and esthetic purposes. The Dipo Festival is said to be “One of the most spectacular initiation ceremonies in Africa. Where the bead has the magic power to turn a child into a woman!”
