Bakatue is the main festival celebrated in Elmina.
This festival commemorates the foundation of the town and is also celebrated to invoke the deity Nana Benya in charge of the constant protection of the town.
Akwasidae is the royal ceremony that honours the king of the Ashanti in Kumasi.
In the Ashanti calendar, some dates are set aside for the celebration of great ceremonies inside the Royal Palace attended by hundreds of people all dressed in gorgeous traditional fabric.

October is The month of the festivals in West Africa and we will not miss the two happening in Ghana that is the Millet festival in the Krobo area and the Awukudae festival, literally meaning "the Wednesday Ceremony" in the Ashanti area.
Frenetic dances, bright colors, scents, the sound of drums, the beautifully dressed chiefs adorned with priceless jewels, in particular during the Millet Festival the young women wearing the wonderful glass beads produced by the Krobo.

The Akawasidae is the most amazing ceremony when all the participants wear their own jewelry. In Kumasi we will also attend an Ashanti funeral that is really a joyful ceremony where the guest are dressed in rich red and black clothes.
So after admiring a huge profusion of jewelry… an unforgettable experience to live …..we will go down inside a gold mine, one of the main in the world, from which spring out every year tens of tons of gold.
