TRANSAFRICA, TOURISM TO WEST AFRICA
TransAfrica is, since nearly 30 years, your
first point of contact when organizing travels and expeditions in
West Africa: we are specialized in Benin,
Burkina
Faso, Ghana,
Mali,
Mauritania,
Niger
and Togo
and now also in Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea Conakry and Bissau .

TransAfrica offers a full range of expeditions
in the region, to discover little-known villages and distant oasis
and to acquaint you with unique ethnic peoples and their customs
and traditions. Our richness of experience and our deep understanding
of the region allow us to offer you a wide selection of itineraries
- special trips and great
expeditions, that you can find in our calendar
- but also tailor-made travels: an expedition with TransAfrica is
a truly unforgettable experience.

TransAfrica is formed by three agencies:
TransAfrica based in Lome (Togo), TransAfrica Horizon in Aburi (Accra,
Ghana) and TransAfrica Mai in Bamako (Mali). We also have offices
in Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mauritania and Guinea.
Nearly
thirty years of experience in Africa, of Sahara
crossings and ethno-cultural expeditions, have afforded
us a vast and comprehensive knowledge of the region. Over the years,
we have established warm and friendly relations with traditional
chiefs, priests and ethnic groups and our long-standing reputation
allows us to travel freely and easily through virtually undiscovered
territory, to even the most remote villages.

Expeditions are our specialty and the passion
for discovery is not only a quality of Alberto
Nicheli and Roberto Cerea, the two main tour leaders,
but of all the TranAfrica staff. The places that feature on our
itineraries are especially chosen to ensure that your experience
with us takes you straight to the heart of authentic Africa: traditional
festivals, tribal customs, initiation rites, markets, architecture,
masks, the Saharan caravan routes, stone age rock engravings, forgotten
oases, archaeological sites – we touch on all of these by
way of remote routes and tracks that are still largely unexplored
today.

As a direct result of both our logistical/technical experience and the privileged relationships we enjoy with the peoples who inhabit the region, our services are often enlisted by field groups researching the area. To date, we have worked with Discovery Channel, National Geographic, National Public Radio (USA), Indigo Films (USA), RAI (National Italian Television) and Canale 5 (an Independent Italian TV network), assisting with their production of special reports and documentaries in the region.
TransAfrica is also one of the main contacts for Tour Operators in Europe and America.
We guarantee attention to details and a high quality of service: our experienced guides, our well-equipped vehicles and our fine catering provision combine to provide a seamless, experience-enhancing backdrop to your journey with us.
