Travelling in Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso is dangerous?

It all depends on where you go, with whom and on what you do. Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso are not dangerous in themselves, not more than other countries. Simple rules of prudence, with kind and respectful manners, based on belief that we are not at home, can open the doors to friendly relationships in which we can feel at ease and safe, as in any other region of the world.

All the festivals offered by TransAfrica are really traditional or they are only staged for tourists?

The traditional festivals of the countries in which TransAfrica organizes the journeys are true and not „for tourists“. This is a specific „quality trademark“ of TransAfrica: to offer to the travelers the opportunity for a contact still genuine with the daily reality of the populations and with the several traditional ceremonies, that have remained almost unaltered.

A trip with TransAfrica is suitable also for children? From which age?

TransAfrica team is used to travel also with children. We can say that to really enjoy they must be 8-10 years old.

Mobile phones – How good is the network in the visited countries?

The network coverage is excellent in all the countries we visit – You have the possibility to buy a SIM card everywhere but it can take some time as it is usually necessary to register with the phone company first.

In Africa people often meet poverty… and would like to help. How to behave? Is it correct to offer money?

Often people are tempted to give money to children… since they see them in troubles and they first come to ask. But giving money directly is not a good solution. We do no want to create any begging mentality!

It is much better to give pencils and pens, exercise-books and paper: they will be useful at school.

Is tap water drinkable?

We absolutely recommend against drinking tap water. You will easily find bottled mineral water all along your journey.

Is it necessary to bring an adaptor?

Yes it is recommended to bring your own adaptor.

Vegetarians in Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso can find suitable food?

Of course. In any country in which TransAfrica organizes travels it is possible to eat cereals, fruits, legumes, vegetables.

Is it allowed to smoke in public places?

Smoking in public places is allowed in all the countries we visit except for some restaurants.

However, it is strictly forbidden to smoke in the vehicles during the tour.

Are the populations really friendly? Is it easy to get in contact with them?

The populations of Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso are friendly.

Is it necessary to travel with local currency?

Yes it is absolutely necessary and our guides will help you change money at the best rates. It is better to travel with Euros rather than with USD.

Is it possible to pay with credit cards in hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops?

It is almost always impossible to pay with a credit card anywhere.
